Muscle in Motion – Investigating Tibial Muscle Functionality during Exercise

The device Tibiospect Module stress-tests the Musculus tibialis anterior inside an MRI bore. The subject lies supine, secured with adjustable straps, and performs dorsal flexion against device-generated resistance. Air pressure controls the resistance, which can be precisely adjusted during measurement.

This setup allows muscle investigation under a predefined load protocol using advanced MRI techniques. The device comes with a standard torque of 50 Nm, upgradeable to 80 Nm for sports-related examinations.

Special Features

The Tibiospect is user-friendly, with a setup time of less than 5 minutes. Its unique exchange system ensures comfortable and secure positioning. The ergonomic pedal facilitates physiological dorsal flexion. Parameters assessed include force, frequency, work output, and distance, with load adjustment fully automated via a computer-assisted feedback mechanism.
